Hydrosols
Locally Distilled Hydrosols
Hydrosols are a co-created product during essential oil distillation. They are made up of small amounts of essential oils and distilled water. It is difficult to remove the small amount of essential oils from the distilled water so it becomes a nice mixture that can have many beauty and wellness uses. Each flower, root or plant that is distilled creates has its own uses and smells. Many times the hydrosol has a lighter or different smell than its parent plant. For example rose petal hydrosol has a very light floral scent as opposed to the strong rose scent of the essential oil.
Hydrosols should be kept in cool and dry places, preferably out of the sunlight. Discard any hydrosols that have become cloudy, smell moldy or have any mold on the surface of the product.
Always check for allergic reactions or product sensitivities before using herbal products.

Our Specialty Distiller
We have a large generic distiller for lavender due to the large volume of lavender essential oil we make. However, for the other plants we use a Hooloo 8L Copper Essential Oil/Hydrosol Still/Distiller. We love this distiller and highly recommend Hooloo for essential oil and hydrosol production.

Rose
(Rose spp.) A very delicate and light scented hydrosol made from roses on the farm and in the surrounding town. None of the roses are sprayed with chemicals to ensure purity of the hydrosol. Currently the only size available is 2 ounce spray bottle.

Lavender Rose
A happy mistake when a large bottle of lavender hydrosol was accidentally mixed with a bottle of rose hydrosol. The result was a lavender forward scent with trailing notes of rose. Since we are not planning on makingn this mistake again, quantities are limited. Only available in 2 ounce spray bottles.

German
Chamomile
This hydrosol is made from German Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) grown on the farm. German Chamomile is also called Blue Chamomile which when distilled creates a compound known as azulene which is reflected in the very light blue color of the hydrosol. There also may be dark blue flecks of color in the hydrosol which is completely normal. Currently available only in 2 oz spray bottles.
