Daikon Radish

A radish that is both a food and a soil breaking cover crop?  We love a dual purpose crop on the farm and the Daikon Radish is a prime example.  The farm has a hard packed clay layer in the fields and the Daikon has been instrumental in breaking up that clay layer.  

Food wise, the Daikon is a good part of certain Asian dishes, and we like a sliced daikon radish for a snack.  They can get a bit spicy if left in the sun for too long but thats a radish thing for you.  Also, did you know Daikon Radish Seed Oil is also a thing?  

These are not drought tolerant and will need supplemental watering, but not too much because they tend to rot in wet soils.  Plant these in the fall for an overwintering crop to get seed in the spring since they are biennials. 11 grams (~200 seeds)
