Its been hard to find an exact timeline of the introduction of the Gold Rush Yellow Wax Bean, many sources point to the 1970's. One or two sources say they were from the early 1900's. More research will do into the history of these hardy beans.
Gold Rush are a "wax" type bean which means they have a slightly meatier or waxy texture (not in a bad way) and are usually yellow. Occasionally purple. This particular bean is a bush bean that grew no more than 1.5 feet tall with numerous yellow pods. They are best for fresh eating, canning and freezing. They set pods in about 55 days and if you keep them harvested, they should continue to flower and set pods. They were decently arid (water, sun) tolerant and easy to harvest.
