This tomato was new to the farm in 2025 via Plant Good Seeds who give the history of it: This is an original tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) variety from farmer Steve Florin at Dancing Bear Farm in Williams, Oregon. Pleated, slightly flat fruits medium sized that ripen orange. A mid-season indeterminate (requires trellising). Originally sourced from Territorial Seeds in the late 90s, Steve cultivated this tomato for at least eight generations and found it to be popular at farmers markets. With the original strain commercially unavailable, he gave it his own name: Siskiyou Orange."
While it is not a heirloom, it is an open-pollinated gem that is in the 2025 farm Top 10. It was easy to slice without being mushy, had a good tomato flavor, and was easy to grow. It is indeterminate that needs trellising to support the fruit growth. Our fruits averaged 6 to 8 ounces in 2025. It was on the higher side of water needs, but still well within a arid tolerance perspective. We could consider it a "late bloomer" with more fruit setting and ripening later in the growing season. 0.2 grams
