Slobolt Lettuce

A slow bolting/heat tolerant variety released in the 1940's by the USDA's Agricultural Research Center in Beltsville, Maryland.  Maryland heat is different than Arizona heat, so while it is slower to bolt than other varieties, this one still appreciated afternoon shade.  The real winner of this variety is the thicker leaves which were great for salads and sandwiches.
